Private label protein powder
PharmaEurope manufactures private label protein powder in Europe, at the plant in Mārupe, Latvia, under ISO 22000:2018, GMP and HACCP. Eight ready-made protein formulas are in production today: whey isolate, whey concentrate, a whey-and-plant blend, a fortified whey, and four plant proteins. Any of them can carry your label; your own blend is developed from your specification.
In short: protein is blended as one batch, so the minimum is 300 kg of finished blend per product, which at a 30 g serving is about 10,000 servings. Production takes 4 to 8 weeks from approval of the formula and the artwork, in 450 g, 900 g and 1,800 g bags or jars.

The eight protein formulas we already make
Every one is in production now, with its raw materials, documentation and stability data in place, which is what lets a first run start small. All are flavoured; the serving is 30 g in 300 ml of water.

Two ways to start: a formula we already make, or your own
Ready-made, your label
Pick one of the eight, choose the flavour and the pack, send the artwork. Nothing is formulated or trialled from scratch, which is why this is the shortest route and the one most first-time brands take. Selected ready-made formulas in stock packaging qualify for a smaller first run.
Your own blend
Your protein sources and ratio, your sweetener system, an added ingredient such as creatine, digestive enzymes or a vitamin premix. Developed from your specification, trialled on a sample you taste, then run at the standard minimum of 300 kg.
Flavour decides more than you think
Solubility, sweetener balance and how the powder behaves in a shaker after twenty seconds are settled on the sample, not on paper. Each formula has its own flavour list; changing a flavour after a batch exists is a new product with its own minimum, so the tasting happens first.
What 300 kg of protein becomes
The blend is made as one batch before it is divided into anything, so the minimum sits on the blend: 300 kg per product, a flavour being a product.
At 30 g a serving that is about 10,000 servings: roughly 330 bags of 900 g, or 660 of 450 g, or 165 of 1,800 g, or a mix. Stock packs are zip-lock bags in those three sizes; the 900 g and 1,800 g sizes can go into a jar with a scoop instead. A custom jar or a printed carton is ordered from a packaging supplier with its own minimum, which lands on top of ours.
Price is quoted per pack for your quantity and for the next tier up, so you can see where the unit cost goes. What moves it most is the protein source (isolate costs more than concentrate, whey more than most plants), then the pack size, then the flavour system.
What a protein label may say in the EU
Protein is one of the few ingredients with authorised EU health claims. Under Regulation (EC) 1924/2006 a product that is a source of protein (at least 12% of its energy from protein) may state that protein contributes to a growth in muscle mass, to the maintenance of muscle mass and to the maintenance of normal bones. Our formulas meet the source-of-protein condition by a wide margin, and we supply the nutrient declaration the claim rests on.
Allergens are declared under Regulation (EU) 1169/2011: milk for whey, soy for the soy isolate and the vegan blend. Pea and rice carry no listed allergen, which is why the rice isolate is the usual choice for a hypoallergenic position. Every batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis after microbiological and heavy-metal testing; a test for substances banned in sport is arranged on request through an independent laboratory, with the report in your brand’s name.
From enquiry to pallet
1. Brief
Which of the eight, or your own spec; the flavour direction; the pack sizes; the quantity for the first run. We reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday, with a price for that quantity and the next tier.
2. Sample
You taste it in a shaker before anything is made. Sweetener, flavour intensity and mixability are adjusted here, not after the batch.
3. Artwork
Your label is checked against EU labelling rules, the nutrient declaration and the allergen line before it goes to print. Labels and bags are printed at the plant.
4. Batch
Blending, filling, sealing and cartoning at the plant in Mārupe, 4 to 8 weeks from approval. Handed over EXW; FCA or DAP quoted on request. Documents: specification, Certificate of Analysis, certificate copies.

What is the minimum order for private label protein powder?
The standard minimum is 300 kg of finished blend per product, where each flavour counts as a product. At a 30 g serving that is about 10,000 servings, or roughly 330 bags of 900 g. Selected ready-made formulas in stock packaging qualify for a smaller first run; ask with your own numbers.
Which protein sources do you work with?
Whey isolate (WPI 90%), whey concentrate (WPC 80%), pea isolate (85%), soy isolate (90%) and rice isolate (85%), as single-source products or blends. The eight ready-made formulas cover whey, whey-and-plant and fully vegan positions; a custom blend can combine them in your ratio.
Can I have my own flavour or sweetener system?
Yes, on a custom blend. Each ready-made formula has its own flavour list; a new flavour or a different sweetener system is developed on a sample you taste first. Because a flavour is a separate product with its own minimum, launching with one or two flavours and adding a third once they sell is the usual route.
What pack sizes are available?
Stock zip-lock bags of 450 g, 900 g and 1,800 g (15, 30 and 60 servings at 30 g); the 900 g and 1,800 g sizes can go into a jar with a scoop instead. Single-serve sachets of 4 to 12 g are filled on the sachet line. A custom jar, closure or carton is possible and carries the packaging supplier’s own minimum.
Can the label say protein builds muscle?
In the EU, yes, in the authorised wording: protein contributes to a growth in muscle mass and to the maintenance of muscle mass, on a product that is a source of protein under Regulation (EC) 1924/2006. Other wording is a claim that has not been authorised. We supply the nutrient declaration that supports the claim; the label itself is the brand owner’s responsibility, and we check it before print.
Is the protein tested for banned substances?
Every batch is tested for microbiology and heavy metals and released with a Certificate of Analysis. A test for substances banned in sport is not a standard step but is arranged on request through an independent accredited laboratory, on a sample of your batch, with the report issued in your brand’s name.
Which allergens will the label carry?
Milk for whey isolate, concentrate and the blends that contain them; soy for the soy isolate and the vegan blend. Pea and rice proteins carry no listed allergen. Cross-contact statements follow the plant’s allergen control, which is part of the ISO 22000 system.
How long does a protein order take?
4 to 8 weeks from the day the formula and the artwork are both approved. Tasting the sample and finalising the label happen before that and depend on how quickly decisions are made on your side. A larger order does not shorten the window; it lowers the price per bag.
What is the shelf life of a protein powder?
24 months as standard, stated on the specification and confirmed by the batch date on the pack. A whey powder is stable; what shortens shelf life is moisture, which is why the bags are sealed with a zip-lock and the jars with a foil seal.
Do you ship protein outside the EU?
Yes. Goods are handed over EXW Mārupe by default, with FCA or DAP quoted on request. We supply the specification, Certificate of Analysis and site certificate copies the destination filing needs; registration in the country of sale is held by the local importer or representative.
