Who makes private label psyllium husk and glucomannan for Canadian brands?

What is in the ready-made psyllium husk powder?

What is in the ready-made glucomannan capsule?

PharmaEurope's ready-made capsule has 500 mg of glucomannan, and with your label it starts from 100 units. If your brand needs glucomannan at another dose, as a powder or combined with other fibres, that is your own formula: from 500 bottles in capsules, or a standard run from 300 kg of finished blend for powders.

What can a glucomannan label say in the EU?

The authorised EU glucomannan claim applies only when each quantified portion contains 1 g of glucomannan. Under Regulation (EU) No 432/2012, as listed in the EU Register of nutrition and health claims:

"Glucomannan in the context of an energy restricted diet contributes to weight loss."

Conditions of use: the claim may be used only for food which contains 1 g of glucomannan per quantified portion. In order to bear the claim, information shall be given to the consumer that the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 3 g of glucomannan in three doses of 1 g each, together with 1–2 glasses of water, before meals and in the context of an energy restricted diet.

Warning required with this claim: a warning of choking is to be given for people with swallowing difficulties or when ingesting with inadequate fluid intake, with advice on taking with plenty of water to ensure the substance reaches the stomach. On a label, a health claim must be accompanied by a statement on the importance of a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle (Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006, Article 10(2)).

With the 500 mg capsule, one quantified portion is 2 capsules, and the claim's conditions of use correspond to 6 capsules a day, taken as three portions of 2. For a product sold in Canada, the wording on the label is the text your licence holder supplies with the NPN. PharmaEurope prints it in English and French.

How does a fibre order get to Canada?

PharmaEurope delivers EXW at the plant by default, or FCA or DAP on request. Your Canadian importer or its broker clears the goods. In Canada most capsule supplements are natural health products, while some powders may be foods; your importer confirms this for your product.
