Private label tablets

PharmaEurope manufactures private label tablets in Europe — contract manufacturing of private label and white label food supplements under your own brand. Tablets are compressed, coated and packed in the European Union, at the plant in Mārupe, Latvia, under ISO 22000:2018, GMP and HACCP. A standard run starts at 500 bottles per product and takes 4 to 8 weeks from approved artwork, and a first run can be smaller — we have made them from 100 units.

In short: tablets are the lowest-cost format per unit, suited to high-dose actives such as multivitamins, calcium or glucosamine that need a long shelf life. A ready-made formula's first run starts from 100 units; a custom formula's standard run starts from 500 bottles per product. Production takes 4 to 8 weeks, and every batch carries a 24-month shelf life.

A tablet is chosen when the dose is high, when the cost per unit has to be as low as the format allows, and when a product has to survive a long retail shelf life. It is the usual form for multivitamins, calcium and magnesium, glucosamine and anything where the daily dose is measured in hundreds of milligrams rather than tens.

Two ways to start: a formula we already make, or your own

Twelve tablet formulas are already developed and produced, and any of them can be made under your brand without reformulation. The composition, the excipient system and the compression parameters already exist, which is the whole reason a ready-made formula reaches the shelf faster.

What a ready-made formula gives you

The composition, the excipient system and the compression parameters already exist and have already been run, so the first batch has the lowest risk of behaving unexpectedly. The route from decision to finished pack is the pack and the label.

What it costs you

A ready-made formula is not exclusive — another brand may sell the same composition under a different name. A developed formula is yours, and it costs the development time before the first pack exists. Custom development starts from your specification: we confirm the excipient system, run a compression trial and scale it.

Before you get a preference

What the powder decides for you

A tablet is made by mechanical compression, and that single fact drives everything else.

  • Compressibility decides whether a formula can be a tablet at all. Some actives compress into a stable tablet and some do not, whatever the dose. Where a blend will not hold together under pressure, the honest answer is a capsule, not a heavier binder system.
  • The dose decides the tablet size, and the size decides swallowability. A high-milligram active such as glucosamine produces a physically large tablet. Splitting the serving into two smaller tablets is often the better product decision than one that is unpleasant to swallow.
  • The excipient balance decides disintegration. Binder, lubricant and disintegrant are not filler: they decide whether the tablet holds its shape in the bottle and still breaks down in the stomach. Tablet quality is built during blending and compression — it cannot be corrected after the batch is pressed.
  • Hygroscopic actives decide the pack. An ingredient that pulls moisture from the air behaves differently in a zip-lock bag than in an induction-sealed bottle or a sealed blister.
Coating

Why a tablet is coated at all

A film coat of HPMC does three jobs: it makes the tablet easier to swallow, it hides the taste and colour of the blend, and it protects the surface from moisture and abrasion in the bottle. Carnauba wax is used as a polishing glaze where a smooth finish matters to the buyer.

Uncoated tablets are cheaper and perfectly appropriate for minerals with no taste problem.

Packing

How tablets are packed

Tablets are packed in PET bottles, glass bottles, blisters with a carton, or zip-lock bags.

PET supplement bottles from 100 to 500 ml in amber, clear, cream white, white opaque, green and red, with blank private labels
PET bottles from 100 to 500 ml, in seven colours, with a self-glue or induction-seal closure.

PET bottles come in 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 400 and 500 ml, in blue, amber, red, clear, cream white, white opaque and green, with a self-glue or induction-seal closure. Amber and opaque bottles are chosen for light-sensitive actives; induction seals are chosen where the retailer requires tamper evidence.

A blister costs more per unit than a bottle but protects each tablet individually, which matters for hygroscopic or light-sensitive formulas and for products sold as a defined course. All pack types and sizes are on the packing page.

Certification

What the certificate actually covers

Production runs under ISO 22000:2018, certificate MSC-22-1384, issued by BM Certification and valid to 7 January 2029. The scope printed on the certificate is manufacturing and packaging of food supplements (tablets, capsules, powders) — tablets are named in the certified scope, not implied by it.

The plant also works to HACCP under Regulation (EC) 852/2004 and to the Food Supplements Europe Guide to Good Manufacturing Practice, and it is registered with the US FDA under registration number 13674831934, valid to 31 December 2026.

Because tablets are named in the certified scope, certificate MSC-22-1384 applies to this format directly, not only to the site.

Where it is made

Manufactured and packed in the European Union

As a private label tablet manufacturer in Europe, we compress, coat and pack your product at the plant in Mārupe, Latvia, operated by SIA Pharma Market Solutions, under the same ownership as PharmaEurope.

The commercial contract is with PharmaEurope, registered in Spain; production, certification and batch records sit with the Latvian plant. We say this plainly because buyers check it.

Price

What drives the price

The active, first: a standardised botanical extract and a mineral salt at the same dose are not comparable costs. Then the number of tablets per pack, because the unit price follows the tablet count and not the bottle. Then coating — an uncoated mineral tablet costs less than a film-coated one. Then the pack: a blister with a printed carton costs more per unit than a bottle with a wrap-around label. Order size moves all of it, which is why 500 bottles and 5,000 bottles are quoted separately.

Common questions

About tablet manufacturing

What is the MOQ for tablets?

The standard minimum order for tablets is 500 bottles per product, and production takes 4 to 8 weeks from approval of the formula and the label artwork. First runs have been produced from 100 units, so ask with your own numbers: the answer depends on the tablet, the pack and the raw materials.

Can I get a sample before ordering?

Yes. We send samples of existing tablet products to companies that are seriously considering an order, so you can see the tablet, the bottle and the label before committing to a batch. The sample comes from one of the twelve ready-made tablet formulas rather than from a formula developed for you.

Can you compress my own formula?

Yes — we work from your specification, confirm the excipient system, run a compression trial and scale it to a production batch. Where a blend will not compress into a stable tablet we say so and propose a capsule instead, which is a decision taken at trial stage rather than mid-production.

Are your tablets coated?

They can be: a film coat of HPMC makes the tablet easier to swallow and protects it in the bottle, and carnauba wax is used as a polishing glaze. Uncoated tablets are cheaper and perfectly suitable where taste and appearance are not an issue for the product.

Are the tablets vegetarian?

The coating used in our tablet formulas is HPMC, which is plant-derived. Whether the finished tablet can carry a vegetarian or vegan claim depends on every ingredient in it, not on the coating alone, so we confirm the full composition in writing before that claim is printed on a label.

How many tablets fit in one pack?

Ready-made formulas are packed in bottles of 30, 60, 90 or 120 tablets. Which count suits a product depends on the daily dose and the price point you are aiming for: a one-a-day formula sells in 30s and 60s, a three-a-day formula needs 90 or 120 to last a month. Other counts are possible on a custom run.

Do I have to register the product before selling it in the EU?

Food supplements are not pre-approved at EU level. In most Member States the company named on the label files a notification with the national authority before sale, submitting the composition and the label; in Spain that authority is AESAN. We supply the documentation, and the filing is the brand owner’s job.

Who is legally responsible for the finished product?

The food business operator under whose name the product is marketed: normally the brand owner, and if that operator is not established in the EU, the EU importer takes on this responsibility under Regulation (EU) 1169/2011. Our responsibility is that the tablets match the agreed specification and that manufacture and documentation are correct, and the batch paperwork issued with every delivery is the evidence of that.

Where exactly are the tablets made?

At the plant in Mārupe, Latvia, inside the European Union, operated by SIA Pharma Market Solutions under the same ownership as PharmaEurope. Both the compression and the packing sit inside the ISO 22000 certified scope at that one site.

What certification does the manufacturing hold?

ISO 22000:2018 under certificate MSC-22-1384, issued by BM Certification and valid to 7 January 2029, with a scope covering manufacturing and packaging of food supplements — tablets among them. The plant also works to HACCP under Regulation (EC) 852/2004 and the Food Supplements Europe GMP guide, and holds US FDA registration 13674831934.

How fast do you respond to a tablet manufacturing enquiry?

We reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday of receiving your brief. If your timeline is tight, WhatsApp reaches us faster than email — message the number on our contact page and we treat it with the same priority as a standard enquiry, just sooner.

What shelf life do private label tablets carry?

We set a standard shelf life of 24 months on every tablet batch, confirmed in the Certificate of Analysis issued with the delivery. The exact date depends on the actives in your formula, so it is fixed on the trial batch rather than assumed in advance.

What equipment presses and packs the tablets?

Tablets are compressed on an IMA PREXIMA 300 press, then counted into bottles on a Cremer CF 1220 counting-and-filling line and cartoned on an IMA IC 150 machine — equipment we name by manufacturer and model so you can check the specifications yourself.

Does the ISO 22000 certificate name tablets specifically?

Yes. The certified scope reads manufacturing and packaging of food supplements — tablets, capsules, powders — so tablets are named in the scope rather than implied by it, under certificate MSC-22-1384, valid to 7 January 2029.
