Private label supplement manufacturing for the EU market

Manufactured in the European Union.

Food supplements are not pre-approved at EU level: most Member States require a notification before sale, filed in each country by the business named on the label. PharmaEurope manufactures white and private label supplements in the European Union: ready-made capsules and tablets from 100 units, your own formula from 500 bottles, powders and sachets from 300 kg of finished blend. Production takes from 2 weeks on a ready-made formula and from 4 weeks on your own. Every batch ships with a specification and a Certificate of Analysis, and the label is designed at the plant in the language you specify.

In short: PharmaEurope makes and labels the product and supplies the documents; your company files the notification in each country where it sells.

Country by country

Does an EU-made food supplement need registration in each EU country?

No registration, but in most countries a notification to the national authority before sale, under that country's own procedure. One notification does not cover the other countries.

Notification

Who files the notification: the brand or the manufacturer?

The brand, or the importer named on the label. In Spain the file is made by the business whose name and EU address are on the label; for a private label product that is your company. PharmaEurope supplies the documents: the label artwork as a PDF, the product specification, the Certificate of Analysis and copies of the site certificates. Tell us the countries at the quote, and the label is built for them from the start.

Germany

How is a food supplement notified in Germany?

With a notification to the BVL, the German Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety, at the latest before the product is first placed on the German market. Each product and each flavour is notified separately; pack sizes of one product share one notification. Since 1 July 2026 notifications are made through the online form on the Bundesportal. The notification is currently free of charge (BVL: “derzeit kostenfrei”) and is not an approval.

Italy

How is a food supplement notified in Italy?

To the Ministero della Salute, through its online NSIS system “Alimenti soggetti a notifica”, with one notification per product. Check the current requirements on the Ministry's site before you file.

Questions

Questions about selling EU-made private label supplements in the EU

Do food supplements need approval before sale in the EU?

No. Food supplements are not pre-approved at EU level: most Member States require a notification before sale. PharmaEurope supplies the documents for that notification; your company files it.

Is one notification enough for the whole EU?

No. Each country runs its own procedure, so a product sold in Spain, France and Germany is notified three times, once with each authority. PharmaEurope supplies the documents for each country from the same formula.

Can PharmaEurope file the notification for our brand?

The notification is filed by the business named on the label, which for a private label product is your company or your importer. PharmaEurope supplies the documents: the label PDF, the specification, the Certificate of Analysis and copies of the site certificates.

In which language can PharmaEurope make the label?

PharmaEurope designs the label at the plant in the language you specify, or prints your own artwork. Which languages are accepted is set by the authority of each country of sale; confirm it before the artwork is approved.

Our product is already sold in another EU country. What changes for Spain?

The product is notified in Spain as well. Under mutual recognition, substances not harmonised at EU level need proof of prior lawful marketing in the other Member State and the label used there. PharmaEurope supplies the label files it designed and the product documents.

What is the minimum order for an EU brand?

PharmaEurope makes ready-made capsules and tablets from 100 units, your own formula from 500 bottles per product, and powders and sachets from 300 kg of finished blend. The full table is on the minimum order quantities page.

How long does production take?

At PharmaEurope, from 2 weeks on a ready-made formula in all formats and from 4 weeks on your own formula. Transport and the notification in each country come on top of that.

What documents come with every batch?

PharmaEurope ships every batch with a specification and its Certificate of Analysis. Copies of the ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP site certificates come on request; their scope covers tablets, capsules and powders.

Can we get samples before ordering?

Yes. PharmaEurope sends samples of existing products to companies that are seriously considering an order, so you can see the product, the pack and the label before the first batch.

Which delivery terms are available inside the EU?

PharmaEurope delivers EXW at the plant by default, with FCA or DAP on request.

How fast does PharmaEurope answer an enquiry?

PharmaEurope replies within 24 hours, Monday to Friday. Send the format, the quantity and the countries where you will sell.
