Selling in the US / Launch your supplement brand on iHerb
How to launch your supplement brand on iHerb
To sell on iHerb, your brand applies to iHerb as a vendor, and iHerb decides which brands it lists. PharmaEurope covers the product and its documents: it manufactures your supplement in the EU from 100 units on a ready-made formula with your label, or from 500 bottles on your own formula in capsules and tablets, in from 2 weeks on a ready-made formula and from 4 weeks on your own. The plant is ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP certified, with tablets, capsules and powders in the certificate scope, and registered with the US FDA as a food facility. Every batch ships with a specification and a Certificate of Analysis, a 24-month standard shelf life, and third-party testing by an accredited laboratory on request, with the report in your brand’s name. iHerb’s Supplier Manual asks a vendor for a Certificate of Analysis on dietary supplements, the FDA food facility registration number of the manufacturer and a certificate of liability insurance.
In short: PharmaEurope makes and documents the product; your brand files the iHerb vendor application, owns the US label and ships to iHerb.

What does iHerb require from a supplement brand, and who provides it?
iHerb’s requirements split into two groups: the product and its documents, which PharmaEurope provides, and the vendor account, US label and logistics, which stay with your brand.
| iHerb requirement | What iHerb states | Who provides it |
|---|---|---|
| Vendor application | The brand completes iHerb’s online form with company and product details; iHerb’s partnerships team reviews it and contacts the brand if the products and company meet its criteria and current business needs. Unsolicited samples are not accepted without prior approval. | Your brand |
| Vendor registration documents | After approval iHerb onboards the supplier through SAP Ariba. The registration questionnaire needs a W-9 or W-8BEN-E, the certificate of liability insurance, an ACH/wire form, a sample invoice form and bank details; the onboarding packet adds an item recap, a vendor profile and a domestic or foreign vendor questionnaire. | Your brand |
| Certificate of Analysis | A Certificate of Analysis is required for dietary supplements. It must carry enough information to trace back to the material tested, and product should not ship until it has cleared testing. | PharmaEurope: specification and Certificate of Analysis with every batch |
| GMP and quality documents | iHerb states that it supports FDA good manufacturing practice and requires suppliers to comply. The manual names no specific GMP certificate. | PharmaEurope: copies of the ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP certificates on request |
| Samples for testing | At the start of the new item process iHerb asks for at least 2 samples, free of charge, for product testing and evaluation. The manual does not list third-party testing as a requirement. | Your brand sends the samples; PharmaEurope supplies the finished product and arranges testing by an accredited third-party laboratory on request, with the report in your brand’s name |
| FDA food facility registration | iHerb requires partners to provide the FDA Food Facility Registration Number(s) of the supplier and its designated manufacturing facilities. | PharmaEurope: the plant is registered with the US FDA as a food facility, and the registration details go to you for the application |
| Product liability insurance | A certificate of liability insurance with at least $2,000,000 per occurrence, $4,000,000 general aggregate and $4,000,000 products-completed operations aggregate; full terms are in iHerb’s Master Vendor Agreement. | Your brand |
| US label | Labels must comply with all applicable federal, state and local law, including California Proposition 65 where it applies. A human-readable lot number and expiry date (MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY) must be on every unit and carton, and supplements must reach iHerb with at least 1 year to expiry. | Your brand owns the label and its content; PharmaEurope designs it or prints your artwork |
| Barcodes | Every item sold to iHerb needs an accurate, unique identification number (GTIN) and a high-quality barcode; every sellable unit must carry a scannable UPC barcode. iHerb defines barcode quality as conformance to the GS1 system specifications, and shipping cartons carry GS1-128 labels. | Your brand registers the barcodes; PharmaEurope prints them on the label |
| Shipping to iHerb | iHerb receives vendor goods at two hubs, in Hebron, Kentucky and Moreno Valley, California. The manual covers pre-paid (FOB Destination) and collect (FOB Origin) shipments, delivery appointments and a bill of lading. | Your brand and its importer; PharmaEurope delivers EXW, FCA or DAP |
The middle column repeats only what iHerb states in its own vendor materials; each line is sourced below. iHerb decides on every application.
How to launch a supplement brand on iHerb, step by step
Six steps take a brand from formula to an iHerb listing; PharmaEurope runs steps 1 to 3, and your brand runs steps 4 to 6.
1. Choose the formula
A ready-made formula with your label starts from 100 units in capsules and tablets and is produced from 2 weeks. Your own formula starts from 500 bottles and is produced from 4 weeks. The catalogue is on the ready-made formulas page.
2. Design the US label
PharmaEurope designs the label or prints your artwork: Supplement Facts panel, “dietary supplement”, net quantity, your company’s name and place of business, and a US address or phone number for adverse event reports. Your brand approves the content and stays responsible for it. The US rules are on the US market page.
3. Produce and document the batch
Every batch ships with a specification and a Certificate of Analysis. Third-party testing by an accredited laboratory is added on request, with the report in your brand’s name.
4. Apply to iHerb as a vendor
Your brand files the application on iHerb’s online form, with company and product details. iHerb’s partnerships team reviews it and contacts you if the products and company meet its criteria and current business needs; after that iHerb onboards the vendor through SAP Ariba. PharmaEurope’s documents go into the application.
5. Import and ship to iHerb
Your US importer or its customs broker files Prior Notice before each shipment arrives and keeps the Foreign Supplier Verification Program file. PharmaEurope delivers EXW as standard, FCA or DAP on request; iHerb receives goods at its two hubs, in Hebron, Kentucky and Moreno Valley, California.
6. Sell and reorder
iHerb states that it ships to over 180 countries. Repeat batches run on the same approved formula and label. Selling on Amazon US as well is covered on the ecommerce and Amazon page.
Which manufacturer documents does an iHerb vendor application need?
PharmaEurope supplies a specification and a Certificate of Analysis with every batch, copies of the ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP certificates on request, and a copy of the plant’s US FDA food facility registration.
- Certificate of Analysis. Issued for every batch, with the batch number printed on your label.
- Specification. Composition, pack and the 24-month standard shelf life, confirmed for every product.
- Site certificates. ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP; the certificate scope names tablets, capsules and powders. The certificates are listed on the certifications page.
- FDA food facility registration. A registration, not an approval or certification of the plant or its products.
- Third-party laboratory report. On request, from an accredited third-party laboratory, in your brand’s name.
iHerb’s own list for a new vendor adds commercial papers: a W-9 or W-8BEN-E, a certificate of liability insurance, an ACH/wire form, a sample invoice form and bank details. The manual also asks for a Certificate of Analysis on dietary supplements, the FDA food facility registration number and the ability to provide a certificate of origin.
What is the smallest first order for an iHerb launch?
PharmaEurope starts a ready-made formula with your label from 100 units in capsules and tablets, and your own formula from 500 bottles.
Powder and sachets have a standard run from 300 kg of finished blend; effervescent tablets have a low minimum order in tubes of 20. How each minimum is set is explained on the minimum order quantity page.
Questions about selling a supplement brand on iHerb
How can I sell my products on iHerb?
Your brand applies to iHerb as a vendor, and iHerb decides which brands it lists: the brand completes the online form on iHerb’s “Partner with iHerb” page. PharmaEurope manufactures the product from 100 units on a ready-made formula with your label and supplies the Certificate of Analysis, specification and site certificates the application relies on.
How does iHerb seller registration work?
iHerb describes three steps: complete the online form with company and product details, submit it so the partnerships team can review it, and wait to be contacted if the products and company meet iHerb’s criteria and current business needs. iHerb states no review time. The registration is filed by your brand. PharmaEurope prepares the product documents before you apply, so the application is ready when the first batch is.
What insurance does iHerb require from a supplier?
iHerb’s Supplier Manual asks for a certificate of liability insurance with at least $2,000,000 per occurrence, $4,000,000 general aggregate and $4,000,000 products-completed operations aggregate. The policy is your brand’s, not PharmaEurope’s; PharmaEurope supplies the product and its documents.
Does iHerb ask for the manufacturer’s FDA registration?
Yes: iHerb requires partners to provide the FDA Food Facility Registration Number(s) of the supplier and its designated manufacturing facilities. PharmaEurope’s plant is registered with the US FDA as a food facility, and PharmaEurope gives you the registration details for your application.
Does PharmaEurope guarantee that iHerb will list my brand?
iHerb decides on every vendor application. PharmaEurope makes the product in an ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP certified plant registered with the US FDA as a food facility, and supplies the documents; the application, the US label and logistics are your brand’s.
What documents does PharmaEurope give for an iHerb application?
PharmaEurope supplies a specification and a Certificate of Analysis with every batch, copies of the ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP certificates on request, and a copy of the plant’s US FDA food facility registration. A third-party laboratory report in your brand’s name is added on request.
Does iHerb test the product, or require third-party testing?
iHerb asks for at least 2 free samples for testing and evaluation and for a Certificate of Analysis on dietary supplements; its Supplier Manual does not list third-party testing as a requirement. PharmaEurope supplies the Certificate of Analysis with every batch and arranges testing by an accredited third-party laboratory on request, with the report issued in your brand’s name.
Does an EU-made supplement need FDA approval to sell on iHerb?
No dietary supplement is approved by the FDA before sale. PharmaEurope’s plant is registered with the US FDA as a food facility, which is a registration and not an approval. The company named on the label is responsible for the product under US law.
Who makes the US label for an iHerb product?
PharmaEurope designs the label or prints your artwork, with a Supplement Facts panel, “dietary supplement”, net quantity, your company’s name and place of business and a US contact for adverse event reports. Your brand approves the content and is responsible for it.
How long does it take to make a supplement for iHerb?
PharmaEurope production takes from 2 weeks on a ready-made formula and from 4 weeks on your own formula. Shipping, US import and iHerb’s own review come on top; send your target date with the enquiry and get a reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday.
Starting a brand from scratch is covered on the launch your own supplement brand page.
