Private label omega-3
PharmaEurope manufactures private label omega-3 supplements in Europe, at our EU plant, under ISO 22000:2018, GMP and HACCP. Ten ready-made omega-3 formulas are in production, all in softgels: fish oil from 150 to 750 mg of EPA and DHA per softgel in ethyl ester (EE) or triglyceride (TG) form, an omega 3-6-9 blend, fish oil with vitamins D3 and K2, a vegan algal oil and flaxseed oil. Any of them can carry your label.
In short: with omega-3 the label sells the milligrams of EPA and DHA, not the milligrams of oil. The standard run for a ready-made softgel is 500 pcs, first runs start from 100 units, and production takes from 2 weeks.

The omega-3 formulas we already make
A 1,000 mg fish oil softgel is not 1,000 mg of omega-3. What counts is the EPA and DHA inside it, so the table gives them per softgel: a “33/22” oil is 33% EPA and 22% DHA, that is 330 mg and 220 mg in a 1,000 mg softgel.
| Formula | Omega-3 per softgel | Oil form | Diet |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fish oil 500 mg with vitamin E | 90 mg EPA + 60 mg DHA | TG | — |
| Fish oil 1,000 mg with vitamin E | 180 mg EPA + 120 mg DHA | EE | — |
| Fish oil 1,000 mg | 330 mg EPA + 220 mg DHA | EE | — |
| Fish oil 1,000 mg in a fish-gelatin shell | 330 mg EPA + 220 mg DHA | TG | No bovine or porcine gelatin |
| Fish oil 1,000 mg, high EPA | 500 mg EPA + 250 mg DHA | EE | — |
| Fish oil 1,000 mg, high EPA | 500 mg EPA + 250 mg DHA | TG | — |
| Omega-3 Premium: fish oil 1,000 mg with vitamin D3 2,000 IU, vitamin K2 50 µg and vitamin E 12 mg | 330 mg EPA + 220 mg DHA | — | — |
| Omega 3-6-9: fish oil 400 mg, linseed oil 300 mg, sunflower oil 290 mg | EPA and DHA from fish, ALA from linseed | — | — |
| Algal oil 500 mg | 200 mg omega-3 from algae | — | Vegan |
| Flaxseed oil 1,000 mg | ALA, the plant omega-3 | — | — |
The Omega-3 Premium softgel is also listed with the vitamin D formulas. Full compositions and specifications are supplied on request; the whole catalogue is on the categories page.
EE or TG, fish or algae: what each choice changes
Four decisions define an omega-3 product before the label is drawn.
- Ethyl ester (EE) or triglyceride (TG). Concentrated fish oil is made in the ethyl ester form; a TG oil is either natural or re-esterified back into triglycerides after concentration. Both are sold in the EU, and the choice follows the price and the positioning of the product.
- Concentration decides the softgel count. 90 + 60 mg per softgel and 500 + 250 mg per softgel are both “omega-3 1,000 mg” on a shelf. The higher concentration reaches a daily amount in fewer softgels, and that is what the buyer compares.
- Fish or algae. Algal oil gives omega-3 without fish, which is what a vegan label needs. Flaxseed oil is also plant-based, but it supplies ALA, a different omega-3 with its own claim and its own daily amount.
- The shell is part of the diet claim. One of the ready-made fish oils uses a fish-gelatin shell, for brands that avoid bovine and porcine gelatin. A different shell or a different oil blend is a custom softgel, with the softgel minimum that comes with it.
What an omega-3 label may say in the EU
Each omega-3 claim is tied to a daily amount, so the dose on the pack decides which claims the product can carry.
Under Regulation (EU) 432/2012, EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart, with the beneficial effect obtained at 250 mg of EPA and DHA a day. DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function and of normal vision, at 250 mg of DHA a day. ALA contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels, at 2 g of ALA a day. The label has to tell the consumer that daily amount. Under Regulation (EC) 1924/2006, “source of omega-3 fatty acids” needs at least 40 mg of EPA and DHA per 100 g and per 100 kcal, and “high omega-3” at least 80 mg.
In practice: one 330 + 220 mg softgel clears the heart claim on its own; the 180 + 120 mg softgel clears it too; the 90 + 60 mg softgel needs two a day. For the brain and vision claims, one 500 + 250 mg softgel reaches 250 mg of DHA, the 330 + 220 mg softgel needs two. We check the artwork against the authorised wording before it goes to print; the label itself is the brand owner’s responsibility under Regulation (EU) 1169/2011.
Two ways to start, and what the pack does to the price
Ready-made, your label
Pick a formula from the list, choose the softgel count per bottle, and approve the label we design or send your own artwork. The standard run is 500 pcs; ready-made formulas in stock packaging start from 100 units for a first run.
Your own formula
A different EPA to DHA ratio, another oil, omega-3 with other actives, a different shell. That is a custom softgel, quoted from 1,000,000 capsules because of the shape-specific tooling, which is why most brands pick a ready-made softgel and put the difference into the label.
Packs
Bottles of 30, 60, 90 or 120 softgels; with a one-a-day formula, 60 is two months and 120 is the usual online size. Blister and carton are possible and carry the packaging supplier’s own minimum.
About private label omega-3
What is the minimum order for private label omega-3?
The standard minimum for a ready-made omega-3 softgel is 500 pcs, and first runs in stock packaging start from 100 units. A custom softgel, with your own oil, ratio or shell, is quoted from 1,000,000 capsules.
What is the difference between EE and TG fish oil?
Ethyl ester (EE) is the form fish oil takes when it is concentrated; triglyceride (TG) is the natural form, or a concentrate converted back to it. We make the 330 + 220 mg and the 500 + 250 mg softgels in both forms, so the choice can follow your price and your positioning.
How many softgels does the heart claim need?
The claim needs 250 mg of EPA and DHA a day. One softgel is enough with the 180 + 120 mg, 330 + 220 mg and 500 + 250 mg formulas; the 500 mg softgel with 90 + 60 mg needs two. The label has to state that daily amount.
Do you have a vegan omega-3?
Yes: the algal oil softgel, 500 mg with 200 mg omega-3 from algae, is vegan. The fish oils are not, and the fish-gelatin softgel avoids bovine and porcine gelatin but is still fish.
Can omega-3 be combined with vitamin D?
Yes, that is the Omega-3 Premium softgel: 330 mg EPA and 220 mg DHA with vitamin D3 2,000 IU, vitamin K2 50 µg and vitamin E 12 mg. Other combinations are a custom formula; the vitamin D options are on the vitamin D page.
What must an omega-3 label say about fish?
Fish is an allergen under Annex II of Regulation (EU) 1169/2011, so it is emphasised in the ingredients list of every fish oil softgel, including the fish-gelatin shell. We check the artwork against the labelling rules before it is printed.
How is the quality of fish oil checked?
Fish oil freshness is described by three figures: the peroxide value, the anisidine value and TOTOX, which combines them. Fish oil for food also has EU maximum levels for dioxins and PCBs in Regulation (EU) 2023/915. Each batch ships with its Certificate of Analysis, and the raw material documentation is available with the specification.
How long does an omega-3 order take?
From 2 weeks. Ready-made softgels are the fastest route because the oil, the shell and the specification already exist.
What is the shelf life?
24 months as standard, stated on the specification.
Do you ship omega-3 outside the EU?
Yes, EXW at our EU plant by default, FCA or DAP on request, with the specification, Certificate of Analysis and site certificate copies the local filing needs. See the markets pages for the UK, the US, India and China.
