Private label powder supplements

PharmaEurope does private label powder manufacturing in Europe — contract manufacturing of private label and white label food supplements under your own brand. Powders are blended, flavoured and packed in the European Union, at the plant in Mārupe, Latvia, under ISO 22000:2018, GMP and HACCP. A standard run starts at 300 kg of finished blend and takes 4 to 8 weeks from approved artwork, and a first run can be smaller — we have made them from 100 units.

A powder is the format for anything the buyer takes by the gram rather than the milligram. Protein, collagen, creatine and pre-workout blends do not fit into a capsule at a useful serving — a 25-gram protein serving is about fifty capsules — so the product is sold as a blend the customer mixes into water or milk.

What we blend

Whey and plant protein

Whey comes as concentrate or isolate, and the choice is commercial before it is nutritional: isolate carries a premium position and a premium cost, concentrate is the efficient choice for a volume product. Plant blends usually combine pea and rice protein, because the two together give a better amino acid profile and a better mouthfeel than either alone.

Collagen and beauty blends

Collagen is taken in multi-gram servings, which rules out every other format on this site.

Pre- and post-workout blends

The category where flavour and solubility decide repeat purchases more than the actives do.

Creatine monohydrate

A single-ingredient product where particle size and dissolving behaviour are the whole quality argument.

Mass gainers

High-gram servings, where bulk density decides the jar size before anything else does.

Four axes

Flavour, sweetener and colour are a specification, not a preference

Every powder we make is defined on four axes, and each of them is a line in your specification rather than a conversation later.

Flavouring

Unflavoured, natural, artificial, or natural and artificial together.

Sweetening

Unsweetened, natural, artificial, or a combination.

Colour

Uncoloured, natural, artificial, or a combination.

Flavour development

A custom flavour built for your product, or a pre-formulated one.

Natural flavour and natural sweetener systems cost more than artificial ones and behave differently in the blend. An unflavoured protein is the cheapest to make and the hardest to sell twice.

Before you get a preference

What the powder decides for you

  • Particle size decides how the product feels in the glass. A coarse powder flows well and makes less dust, but it can feel grainy and leave sediment at the bottom. A very fine powder dissolves better and flows worse — it sticks to equipment and can clump. Neither end is automatically better: the target is set for the product, not copied from a specification sheet.
  • Particle size also decides whether the blend stays a blend. When ingredients have very different particle sizes, shapes or densities, they separate in the jar between the factory and the kitchen. Blend uniformity is the reason a customer’s first scoop and last scoop should taste and work the same.
  • Bulk density decides the pack. A fluffy powder and a dense one at the same gram weight need different jar volumes, which is why pack size follows the blend and not the other way round.
  • A change of raw material supplier is a change of product. The same ingredient name from a new supplier can arrive with a different particle profile, density, flow behaviour and moisture level — and behave differently on the line even though the specification reads the same. This is why raw material documentation is checked per batch, not once at the start of the relationship.
  • Flavoured powders are moisture-sensitive, which decides the pack and the storage conditions.
Packing

How powders are packed

Powders are packed in jars or zip-lock bags. A jar is the retail format: it holds its shape on a shelf, takes a wrap-around label and a scoop, and protects the powder between servings. A zip-lock bag is cheaper and lighter, which makes it the format for refills, trial sizes and subscription packs — and the weaker barrier of the two for a flavoured, moisture-sensitive blend. All pack types and sizes are on the packing page.

Certification

What the certificate actually covers

Production runs under ISO 22000:2018, certificate MSC-22-1384, issued by BM Certification and valid to 7 January 2029. The scope printed on the certificate is manufacturing and packaging of food supplements (tablets, capsules, powders) — powders are named in the certified scope.

The plant also works to HACCP under Regulation (EC) 852/2004 and to the Food Supplements Europe Guide to Good Manufacturing Practice, and it is registered with the US FDA under registration number 13674831934, valid to 31 December 2026.

Price

What drives the price

The protein or the active, first: whey isolate and whey concentrate are different products at the same gram weight, and a plant blend is different again. Then the serving weight multiplied by the number of servings — a powder is priced by the kilogram inside the pack, not by the pack. Then the flavour and sweetener system, where natural costs more than artificial. Then the pack: a jar with a scoop costs more than a zip-lock bag. Order size moves all of it, which is why 300 kg and 3,000 kg of finished blend are quoted separately.

Common questions

About powder manufacturing

What is the MOQ for powders?

The minimum order for powders is 300 kg of finished blend, and production takes 4 to 8 weeks from approval of the formula and the label artwork. First runs have been produced from 100 units, so ask with your own numbers: the answer depends on the blend, the pack and the raw materials.

Can you develop the flavour, or do I have to bring one?

We do both. A flavour can be custom, built for your blend, or pre-formulated and chosen from what already exists. Flavouring, sweetening and colouring are three separate lines in the specification, each set as unflavoured, natural, artificial, or natural and artificial, and each is fixed on the trial batch.

Whey concentrate or isolate?

Isolate is the premium option: more protein per gram, less lactose, higher cost. Concentrate is the cost-efficient option and is what most volume products use. The choice usually follows the retail price you are aiming at rather than the nutrition, and it is written into the specification.

What goes into a plant protein?

Usually a combination rather than a single source — pea and rice protein together, because the pair gives a better amino acid profile and a better texture than either protein alone. We set the ratio in the specification, along with the flavour, the sweetener and the particle size.

Why does my powder clump or leave sediment?

That is a particle size problem, and it is fixed during formulation: too fine and the powder sticks and clumps, too coarse and it feels grainy and settles at the bottom of the glass. We adjust it by milling, sieving, granulation or a different grade of raw material.

Will the last scoop be the same as the first?

That is a blend uniformity question, and it is answered in the specification. Uniformity depends on how close the ingredients are in particle size, shape and density: components that differ too much separate in the jar during transport, so the blend is designed for them to stay mixed from the first scoop to the last.

Do I have to register the product before selling it in the EU?

Food supplements are notified in the EU, not approved. The company named on the label files the notification with its national authority before sale, submitting the composition and the label; in Spain that authority is AESAN. We supply the documentation for the filing, and the brand owner makes it.

Where exactly are the powders made?

At the plant in Mārupe, Latvia, inside the European Union, operated by SIA Pharma Market Solutions under the same ownership as PharmaEurope. Powders sit inside the ISO 22000 scope, which reads manufacturing and packaging of food supplements — tablets, capsules and powders.
