A private label effervescent tablet goes from idea to production through a handful of decisions: a ready-made formula or your own, the flavour and sweetener, a tablet or a drink cube, the pack, and the claims on the label. The decisions on an effervescent project, and what each one changes

Seven choices define an effervescent product, and only two of them, the formula route and the quantity, move the timeline or the price in a big way.

Should I start with a ready-made effervescent formula or my own?

Start with a ready-made formula if one we already produce fits your product: it is in production from 2 weeks and the batch has already behaved once on the line. Choose your own formula when the active, the dose or the positioning is the point of the brand, and plan for production from 4 weeks.

The gap between the two routes is wider here than in capsules. In a capsule, a new formula often means swapping one active for another. In an effervescent tablet, the blend, the acid and bicarbonate system, the flavour and the compression settings are worked out together and proved on a trial batch, so custom development is a technical project. A practical route for a fast first launch is a ready-made formula first and your own formula for the second product. Which flavour and sweetener should an effervescent tablet have?

Pick the flavour last and test it in the tablet itself, because carbonation and acidity change what the customer tastes. A flavour that works in a drink powder can taste flat or sharp once it fizzes, so a new flavour is always re-tested in the format it will ship in.

The sweetener is part of the tablet's structure, not only its taste. Our ready-made effervescent tablets weigh about 4 g each on a sorbitol base. Moving to another base changes how the blend compresses and how it takes up moisture, so it is handled as custom development with a trial batch. Flavour is also a real cost line in this format, not a rounding error.

Effervescent tablet or drink cube?

Choose an effervescent tablet when the customer drinks one dose at home from a tube of 20; choose a drink cube when every serving should be sealed on its own and carried in a pocket. Both dissolve in water, but they are different products on the line and on the shelf.

• Effervescent tablet: packed 20 to a tube with a desiccant cap; the tube is opened and closed for each dose.

Tube or blister for effervescent tablets?

Effervescent tablets go into a plastic tube with a desiccant in the cap. The tube has very low moisture permeability and the desiccant keeps the tablets dry between the factory and the last serving, which is the same job an antioxidant does inside a softgel.

A bottle with a wrap-around label or a zip-lock bag works for capsules and tablets and is not a substitute here. When a brand asks for single sealed servings, the next step is the drink cube format rather than a blister of tablets. Why moisture decides the timeline as much as the recipe

An effervescent tablet is a dry mixture of acid and bicarbonate that reacts the moment it meets water, so humidity at any stage can start the reaction early. The blend, the compression room, the tube and the warehouse all have to stay dry, and a batch that picks up moisture turns into swollen, dull tablets that no longer fizz.

For the buyer this has three practical effects:

• changes after the trial batch are expensive, because compression force and blend moisture have little room to vary;
• disintegration speed is fixed on the trial batch and written into the specification, since it cannot be adjusted once tablets are pressed and packed;
• the shelf life is 24 months as standard, but the real date follows the shortest-lived ingredient, and the tube and desiccant cap matter to it as much as the formula.

From brief to first batch: the steps

A ready-made effervescent product skips the trial batch and is in production from 2 weeks; an own formula adds development and a trial and starts from 4 weeks.

1. Brief. You send the active, the dose per glass, the market and the number of tubes. PharmaEurope replies within 24 hours, Monday to Friday.
2. Route. We confirm whether a ready-made formula covers it or a custom formula is needed, and quote the tube count you asked for.
3. Composition and specification. The full composition is fixed, including the base and the flavour. A vegan claim is checked against every excipient, flavour and sweetener at this point.
4. Trial batch (own formula only). Flavour, fizz and compression are proved in the tablet.
5. Label. We design the tube label around your brand or check the artwork you send.
6. Production and documents. The batch is compressed on our IMA PREXIMA 300 press and counted into tubes on a Cremer CF 1220 line, and it ships with a Certificate of Analysis.
7. Delivery. EXW as standard, FCA or DAP on request, worldwide.

Each tube holds 20 tablets, and the order is quoted per tube count, so send the number of tubes you need for the first run and the team returns a price for that quantity. Which effervescent formulas are ready to go under my brand?

Can I sell effervescent tablets in blisters instead of tubes?

For single sealed servings the next step is a drink cube: a compressed effervescent cube in its own blister, quoted as a separate format with its own minimum order.

Can an effervescent tablet carry a vegan claim?

Yes, if it is built that way from the start. The claim depends on every excipient, flavour and sweetener in the tablet, not only on the active, so PharmaEurope confirms it against the full composition before it is printed. Asking for a vegan tablet in the brief avoids changing the flavour or base after the trial batch.

What shelf life will my effervescent tablets have?

PharmaEurope sets a 24-month standard shelf life, confirmed in the specification and in the Certificate of Analysis issued with each batch. The real figure follows the shortest-lived ingredient, and for effervescent tablets the tube and desiccant cap matter as much as the formula. The date printed on the tube is the one the stability data supports.

What documents come with an effervescent batch?

Every batch from PharmaEurope ships with a Certificate of Analysis, the product specification, raw material documentation, an allergen statement and a shelf-life statement.
